We all have witnessed the sudden data prices increase by up to 50% in 2025, forcing many of us to rethink our choices of internet budgets. With MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile, all adjusting their prices according to the FG approved 50% tariff hike, with some telecom providers increasing by as much as ₦70,000 for large data plans, finding the best deal has now become the new mission for all telecom users.
So in this guide, I’ll compare the cheapest and best-value data plans across Nigeria’s major telecom providers, with the aim to help you find the most value for money option based on your budget and internet needs.
If you’re looking for the best, affordable and cheapest data plans, here’s how MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile compare:
Cheapest Pick: Glo (3.9GB for ₦1,000) offers the lowest price per GB, but network quality varies. While MTN and Airtel remain the most reliable in major cities, their current data prices are way more expensive. Bonus for MTN Users – dial *312*88# or *312*65# for Incredibly Cheap Data plans but not everyone is eligible. You just might be lucky. Bonus for Airtel – Dial *312*1# for Some cheap amazing deals
Personal Insight: I can’t believe I’m actually listing a N1,000 for 3.9GB data plan as the cheapest plan to buy on Glo, but things are changing and we have no choice but to roll with them. Anyways i use Glo’s Special Data Plan of 7GB which goes for N1,500 with a 7days duration you can try it by dialing *312# navigate to ‘Buy Data’ and Choose Special Data Plan from the list.
If you stream videos a lot, work remotely, or run a business that relies on high volume & high-speed internet, these are the best options for you:
Best Pick for Heavy Users: Airtel (200GB for ₦20,000) provides the cheapest value for money plan, but check for network quality in your area before subscribing to the plan.
Personal Insight: As a Heavy user my advice is for you to back up your Data plans with other plans such as Night Data Plans, Streaming plans and so on, this is to limit your overall spend and get more valuable across all.
If you don’t need a full month of data, weekly plans offer a flexible and often cheaper alternative, it’s also a very good choice if you know your data usage and know that duration doesn’t really matter for you, here are data plans you should consider;
Best for Weekly Data: 9mobile (7GB + 100MB for ₦1,500) gives the best value for money but has limited coverage in some locations, so be sure you have a good 9mobile covered in your area before going for this plan.
So, That’s all for now. Bye ✌️
