There’s no way I’m the one asking this question…
What happened to the times when listening to your favourite song meant you had a guaranteed Four Minutes plusto enjoy a good and melodious song?
I don’t want to believe our artists have become lazy because they still drop tracks everyday for Christ sake.
For Example:Almost 80% of the songs on the Classic P-Square album THE INVASIONare all 5 minutes above, see the pictures below and tell me if I’m overreacting…

I had to look into it to see why most songs are now under 3 minutes of playing duration,
I did my research and everything I discovered all pointed to one reason — MORE STREAMING REVENUE
According to a Music Producer & Song writer Jon Sine, most artists are making their songs shorter in order to get more streaming revenue,
Because Spotify which is one of the biggest streaming platforms pays artists after every 30 seconds their song is streamed, which might be the same or similar for other streaming platforms too,
And the short duration means listening will have to listen to their song repeatedly which means more money for the artists
I also looked further into Reddit forum and almost the same reason, which now makes it clear that, it’s not laziness at all but the push for more money.

Well, I’m not saying artists shouldn’t look for ways to make more money from their songs — No, but if you as an artist have confidence that the song you’re making is amazing, what makes you think we as listeners and fans won’t put the song on repeat and listen to it a 100x everyday? It’s just sad honestly but all the best to them,
This is the reality and I don’t think song durations will be going back to what they used to be a few years ago,
And as Jon Sine said at the end of the video earlier, things can only change if streaming platforms change their payment policy, until then It’s well. ✌️
