WhatsApp is testing a brand-new feature that lets users set personal reminders directly on specific messages. Known as “Remind Me”, this feature aims to make the app more useful for managing daily conversations, to-dos, and tasks without needing third-party apps.
According to multiple beta testers and tech sources, the feature is currently being rolled out to select users through the latest Android beta version of WhatsApp (version 2.24.14.15).
It introduces a bell icon that appears when a user long-presses on any message within a chat. Tapping the icon allows the user to choose from preset reminder intervals such as:
- In 1 hour
- In 8 hours
- Tomorrow
- Custom time (users can pick a specific date and time)

This makes it possible for users to set a private, device-based reminder without leaving the app or depending on Google Tasks, external note apps, or calendar integrations.
Once the reminder time arrives, WhatsApp sends a push notification to the user referencing the message. Importantly, only the person who set the reminder will see it, ensuring privacy and preventing unnecessary distractions for others in the chat.
When a user receives a message they want to act on later – like a meeting time, shopping list, address, or an important instruction, they can long-press the message and tap on the “Remind Me” bell icon. A pop-up menu will offer timing options or allow the user to set a custom schedule. Once done, WhatsApp handles the rest by sending a gentle nudge at the right time.
This feature is especially useful nowadays where it’s easy to forget commitments shared through chat. Be it a personal task, work reminder, or even remembering to reply to someone, this built-in tool helps users stay on top of important messages.
It’s also a step toward making WhatsApp more productivity-focused without compromising its simplicity. The ability to mark a message for future follow-up could save users from the stress of scrolling endlessly through past chats looking for critical information.
When Will It Be Available?
As of now, the “Remind Me” feature is only available to a small group of Android users running the latest WhatsApp beta. There is no official date yet for the wider rollout, but since it has already appeared in the beta channel, it’s expected to reach more users in the coming weeks.
iOS users may have to wait a bit longer, as WhatsApp often tests new features on Android before expanding them to Apple devices.
