I mistakenly used YouTube Music and now I’m Addicted to it

I got fed up with the poor algorithm on these so-called big streaming platforms,

I had Audiomack, Spotify, and Boomplay on my phone, and somehow I still found myself getting tired of using them and I was thinking to myself that I needed to try something new and different.

And then I suddenly recalled that I had YouTube Music on my device which I had disabled for quite some time.

Long story short, I enabled and updated it and I wanted to try it out but then I got an urgent sense of satisfaction when I first opened it.

Maybe it’s because I was craving something new right 🤔,

Well, No. It was far from that, Here are a few reasons why I can’t stop using it since I started.

1. Free 2-Month Premium package

Not like I’m broke, but I was genuinely happy for this, it’s a chance to experience a premium package and know how good it is without actually spending money, this is one hell of a strategy from YouTube, and trust me, I love it. I’ll definitely be renewing when it expires 😊.

2. Better algorithm for me personally

While I was using other streaming platforms I could be listening to a calm R&B song from Johnny Drille and boom a Random Portable song comes next 😭, God abeg.

But since I started using YouTube Music I’ve not come across any atrocity of such, I think I’ll personally attribute that to a more clever songs sorting algorithm.

Although I’m still observing this and I’m hoping my over excitement on this doesn’t turn into familiar tears.

3. Music Audio and Video Side by Side

We all know that YouTube is the best and most popular video platform in the world,  they didn’t think twice before taking advantage of this on the YouTube Music app,

While this might be unavailable for free users, on the premium end, you can easily switch from listening to an audio song to watching its official music video in 2 seconds, which is very cool and one edge they have over every other music streaming platform, if I’m not mistaken.

4. Flawless UI

About the User Interface, I don’t know if I’m over exaggerating at this point but I consider it spotless, to me everything is well put in place and very easy to navigate.

And it has a SPEED DIAL section where your recent and most played tracks show up, which I consider very cool 😎.

5. Samples — or Should I just call it Reels

This SAMPLES section in the app works just like Facebook Reels and TikTok feed but it only contains music videos or snippets of the music videos, and if you click on the title it takes you straight to the full music to either watch the full music video or listen to the Audio music,

I don’t think there’s any other Music streaming platform that has this feature, I might be wrong tho. But it’s a very unique feature which I like.

6. Explore Tab

Last but definitely not the least, the Explore tab, I think many other Streaming platforms have this by default so it’s not particularly anything special,

But I think it’s organised way better than some other platforms, it’s the section where you can check out New Releases, Top Charts, Genres and Music that fits your Current Mood, Trending Songs, New Albums and Singles just a whole lot of the Standard streaming categories which is always nice to see.

My Conclusion

Oh boy, it feels like I’ve been writing for ages 😂, but anyways I think overall YouTube Music is a very very good music streaming platform, at this point in time it’s my favourite and I hope it continues to be that.
